First for something completely different…

Cricket=Action=Art isn’t a cricket blog in the traditional sense being as it describes itself “brief on comment but strong on images”.

Brevity and succinctness are two things we like at the Reverse Sweep (even if that always isn't the case with our own posts!), and if you are of a similar disposition then this is a site for you.

The idea sounds simple taking a topical cricket image, messing about with Photoshop and occasionally adding a brief and witty comment to accompany it. Sometimes no comment is needed, as the picture really does say it all.

It isn’t easy of course and the fact that it works so well is testament to its creator.

Top 20 Cricket Blogs - The Precursor

 
It was the summer of 2009 and due to a reorganisation at work, we found ourselves with nothing to do in the office until September. The timing couldn’t have been better as the Ashes was just about to start.

But how were we going to spend the time whiling away seven and a half hours a day at our desk? Reading the BBC, Cricinfo, Times (it was free then) and Telegraph sites would only take an hour each day, what were we going to do with the rest of the time?

Then we discovered Twitter and stumbled upon the weird and wonderful world of cricket blogs.

Nothing has been the same since. After writing initially for the excellent World Cricket Watch, we started this blog and have been trying to skive ever since.

So now it seems somewhat appropriate that whilst the Reverse Sweep and his brood is busy packing up and moving back to Surrey after six years in the South of France, we present over the next couple of weeks our 20 favourite cricket blogs.

It is only our opinion of course and doubtless many will disagree with those that are in, those that are out and the order that we have placed them in. We actually enjoy more than the 20 we will name, but just as selection is part and parcel of cricket we have had to apply the same process here. At least we haven’t had to worry about batting averages for a change though.

Cricket blogs by their very nature have precarious lives – at least one who features in our list does so posthumously (metaphorically, of course). Many others have come and gone since we started the Reverse Sweep in December 2009.

Anyway, the series kicks off tomorrow. Feel free to agree, disagree and comment - vehemently or otherwise…

The Reverse Sweep is named as one of The Times' 50 best cricket websites in the World

Imagine our delight when we logged onto The Times website this morning, navigated our way to Cricket Central and found that our humble blog had been included as one of the 50 best cricket websites in the World. Indeed, we are happier than Yuvraj Singh would be having stumbled upon the World's biggest naan bread.

Happy days. Now it is time to prepare that speech!
