The throw it in the air and see where it lands fixture scheduling of the English domestic cricket season would even have confounded Einstein in its randomness.
Mr Spock would have considered it illogical. And for once McCoy would have agreed with him.
It has certainly bewildered us at the Reverse Sweep.
But amidst all the Twenty 20 nonsense comes what could be the defining match of Division 1 of the County Championship this season.
Durham, who are top with 150 points from nine matches and are seeking their third title in four seasons, take on second placed Lancashire at Aigburth.
Lancashire are seven points behind with one match in hand, and with third placed Warwickshire a further 28 points off, this very northern clash threatens to have a very big say in the destination of the Championship. Some would give it the tag of a title decider.
It is 77 years since Lancashire won the title, so you could say that today’s game is quite a big game for Glen Chapple’s side.
But is there a preview of the game on Cricinfo?
Don’t be silly.
Are Sky covering the match?
Don’t be ridiculous.
Although as Sussex supporters we are obviously neutrals here, we will be backing Lancashire as 77 years is quite a long time.

Appallingly there isn't even radio coverage from the BBC, of what seems so far to be a thrilling encounter (15 wickets down in two sessions as I write). The CC has been excellent so far this season, especially as a Lanky fan, and it's very disappointing that this game is receiving such poor coverage.
