We’ve been banging on about Hales at The Reverse Sweep for a while now. He was one of our 12 to watch in 2010, and once he established himself in the 1st XI, the 22 year old contributed 677 runs at 35.63 to Nottinghamshire’s successful push for the title. Hales also demonstrated his big hitting ability in the limited overs formats of the game.
If he continues to develop, the tall, right-hander could be the man who finally replaces Marcus Trescothick at the top of the order in England’s ODI and Twenty 20 sides.
Definitely one to watch in 2011.
Where next?
Ten to watch in 2011: Adam Lyth, Jade Dernbach, Rory Hamilton-Brown, Samit Patel, Alex Hales, Danny Briggs, Ben Stokes, James Harris, Jos Buttler, Adil Rashid
