Sixth last season, Northants long suffering supporters will be hoping for a big improvement this season.
Strengths
The batting looks reasonably strong with the experienced trio of Mal Loye, David Sales and Stephen Peters mentoring promising young batters like Rob Newton.
Weaknesses
Whilst runs shouldn’t be a problem, taking 20 wickets could be. Too much load is likely to be put on Chaminda Vaas’ shoulders and fine bowler that he has been, he is 37 now.
Main man
No one really jumps out (which tells a tale), so we’ll opt for captain Andrew Hall who should get his fair share of runs and wickets.
Look out for…
A season of struggle at Wantage Road.
Prediction
6th – no worse than last summer, but no better either.
