No doubt the most heard phrase amongst the BCCI hierarchy over the last couple of days has been “I told you so…”, whilst the ICC will counter that the mistake occurred because the full DRS is not in use in the West Indies-India Test series.
But other than a rather amusing suggestion from King Cricket, the only conclusion that can be drawn is that the people operating the technology are just as prone to error as the umpire in the middle.
No system can be 100% accurate when human beings are involved in the process. Get over it.
Until the scientists in the ICC laboratories create a robot version of Daryl Harper then mistakes will occur. And as a Terminator style Daryl Harper does not even bear thinking about, let’s all accept that a batsman will be dismissed sometimes when they weren’t out and reprieved occasionally when they were.
Just like international cricket for over 130 years in fact.
