It seems from a Daily Mirror exclusive that he was racing home to rescue his cat, and that he was just over the limit. Which lines up with his twitter comment:

"paddy is back! how he got under the floorboards is beyond me, but the rescue operation will only cost a few thousand!"

This makes it even less impressive - no golf buggy, no smashed windows, no hit-and-run/resist-arrest/assault-officer/break-window (Luke Pomersbach), no rampages. And I can't imagine that his mum will repeat the offence a la Gibbs. And it was to rescue a puddy-cat...
