We had a bit of fun at Shahid Afridi's expense after the IPL auction the other day. But that doesn't mean that we don't dig Afridi here at The Reverse Sweep.
He may be frustratingly inconsistent, but especially in the one day or T20 formats he can be simply devastating on his day. He should be in the test team too as the all-rounder, and I seem to remember he made a success of this against England and India a couple of years ago.
It is an absolute crime that he hasn't been snapped up by any of the IPL teams and it is a sad day when politics wins over sport. Afridi is one of the best hitters in the game along with Sehwag, Dilshan and Gayle and is arguably the best T20 all-rounder in the World.
So it was good to see his cameo this morning, especially as it may have helped his side post a target that could be beyond the Aussies reach.
48 off 26 balls is a pretty impressive strike rate, and it certainly made getting Alexander ready for creche and me for work that bit more palatable.
Keep up the good work Boom Boom.
