As most of you will have guessed from my previous post on Shane Watson, the tubby Australian is not exactly one of my favourite cricketers.
Some of you would have particularly enjoyed it when he was bowled by Sulieman Benn in the 2nd Test at Adelaide when attempting to reach his maiden test century with an almighty slog. Many of you may agree with me that this may prove to be the closest Watson gets to ever reaching this milestone.
So before he goes and proves me wrong it seems rather apt to relay an exchange he had with Stuart Broad last year at Headingley during the 4th Ashes Test. Broad was raising his bat after completing a raucous but futile fifty as England headed towards a thrashing, prompting Watson to complain: ‘You’re celebrating like you’ve got a hundred, Broad. Who do you think you are?’ Broad replied: ‘You know what it’s like to get a Test hundred, do you? I don’t think that will ever happen.’
Thanks to Laurence Booth at the excellent Top Spin for that one.
